Saturday August 24, 2024
The Knights of Columbus hosted a BBQ lunch for a local fundraising soccer tournament in support of the charity I Challenge Diabetes. The event, held at the Milton Community Park soccer field, brought together families, players, and volunteers for a day of sports and community spirit. The Knights of Columbus, known for their charitable efforts, served up hamburgers, snacks and cold drinks to support the event.
The soccer tournament featured several local teams, competing not only for the love of the game but also for a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the tournament went directly to the charity, which provides resources, education, and support for those managing diabetes. Event organizer Emil Matacz of the Knights expressed pride in the turnout and the community’s generosity. "The support we’ve seen today is incredible," he said. "We’re thrilled to be able to make a difference for I Challenge Diabetes and all those who benefit from its programs."
I Challenge Diabetes is a registered charity which fosters a community of people with Type 1 Diabetes who, through experiential education and adventure, provide each other with the skills and confidence to overcome the daily challenges and create a new expectation for what we can accomplish.
